Oh my dear ones
I’m sorry
please believe me when I say
I tried
I lived a life in regret
when all I needed was in front of me.
I don’t believe in heaven’s plight
but I do believe
we’ll meet again.
Mother and dad and my dear love
so much more that you deserved
you gave me warmth shelter and your hearts
you, pillars of my world
a sinking bell in the darkest of seas,
I now step into the mist.
And while I rest, this very last time
for now I swear
please forgive me
‘cause I have failed
but I’ve loved you all along.

Harps of Enoshima

"Leaf", poem inspired by Harps of Enoshima, by poet James York
I by brief, hushed movements
unsteady breeze, move careful toward
an unknown mountain, a leaf
carried, careless, toward adventure
among howling winds, over cobbles
and high above, rising, falling
with each surprise gust, a living ember
painting the sky cool autumn colors.
a swirl of other leaves, like clouds
animated to life, cold dervishes
signalling the stark winter to come
skit-scat across the pavement bird-feet
hop, hop hopping into the wind.
off again toward the unknown
